Joy references an interesting article in this week’s excited utterances… There is No ‘Right Way’ for Law Firms to Adopt Social Software. Scott Vine, the Senior Information Officer at Clifford Chance comments on James Mullan’s recent post (“Social Software Adoption . . . Why Law Firms Get it Wrong!”) on social software adoption in law firms (Mullan’s post was prompted by Michael Idinopulos’s blog). Michael’s view is that most law firms take exactly the wrong approach to social software rollout. “They try to “chip away” at social software implementation by starting with “easy” use cases like know-how. Legal Publishers have been busy since Easter. Thomson Reuters have announced the opening of two offices in Asia to cement the supply of legal information in the Asia region, one in Hydrabad the other in Manilla.. Westlaw have also interestingly developed an iphone app for the latest edition of Black’s Law Directory and Lexis Nexis have announced they are to work with BPP to integrate professional development courses.
The world of legal twitter has come to life in the past 3 weeks. It looks as though we have reached a critical mass of legal tweets as there are suddenly a range of articles, apps and rankings of legal tweets appearing. We highlight some of these in our Blogs du Jour section of the newsletter. Also: do have a look at our last trawling link .. a spoof video for “Flutter” a nano blogging site. We found it amusing
Finally some self promotion – please do take a moment to have a squizz at our beta social networking site for legal information professionals and those interested in the Asia Pacific Legal market / industry. We’re at http://community.practicesource.com and would love feedback ideas & suggestions .
Best wishes Sean & Joy
